Don’t get angry now but the new “generation” or at least you who are 15 years younger than me will have no idea what this is or how it works.

Before all the elegant chat applications like Discord, Facebook messenger & group chats and all that there was something called or still called IRC (Internet Relay Chat) a text based chat like a terminal if you use Linux but of course there was a program for windows called mIRC.

For me, my journey started with WAREZ and that was before all the elegant torrent pages that people download from today.

To make a long story short I have been using IRC on and off for almost 25 years and now I have once again set up my own IRC network which runs from our servers. IRC is so much more anonymous and secure than today’s social platforms and that is the biggest reason why I still use it.

So, if you are like me from the “old school” then you are more than welcome to join our network. Of course, as a newcomer, you are also welcomed to join. It just makes me happy that you are interested in what it is and how it works.

Here is a tutorial for beginners who want to connect to IRC from Linux.
