Arena Breakout: Infinite Season 7: UTOPIA is one of the game’s most ambitious seasonal updates yet.

Instead of simply adding another weapon, map or limited-time event, Morefun Studios has pushed Arena Breakout: Infinite in a new direction with zombies, new PvE mechanics, new progression systems, new weapons and significant changes to the core PvP experience.

Season 7 launched on September 16, 2026, and after several weeks of playing and watching the community react, there is now enough data to ask the big question:

Did UTOPIA actually make Arena Breakout: Infinite better?

My answer is yes—but with some important reservations.

Morefun officially launched Season 7 on September 16 and described it as a major change of direction for ABI, combining Zombie Modes with PvP balance changes, new weapons, attachments and progression systems.

Zombies Change the Formula

The biggest headline feature of Season 7 is obviously Zombie Mode.

Arena Breakout: Infinite has always been built around PvPvE extraction gameplay, but UTOPIA takes the PvE side of the game considerably further.

The new Infected Zone mode is available across:

  • Farm
  • Valley
  • Airport

Farm and Airport feature the Heavy Infected Zone, while Valley uses the standard Infected Zone difficulty.

The season also introduces Zombie Endless, a dedicated PvE experience where players fight increasingly powerful waves of mutants while completing objectives and upgrading their weapons and abilities.

The zombie system also introduces new raid mechanics and a merchant system, while Zombie Research provides an out-of-raid progression system where players can spend points earned in Infected Zone raids to unlock perks.

That makes the zombie content feel more substantial than a simple seasonal event.

The Good

The zombies give players another reason to launch ABI.

For players who enjoy PvPvE gameplay, the combination of human operators and increasingly dangerous infected enemies creates some genuinely chaotic encounters.

You can’t simply focus on other players anymore. Noise, positioning, ammunition and timing become even more important when an infected group can suddenly turn a normal fight into complete chaos.

The Bad

The biggest criticism is that not everyone wanted ABI to move further toward PvE.

Some players would rather see the game remain focused on its traditional extraction-shooter identity.

There has also been community discussion around previous PvE experiences and whether Morefun should provide more dedicated PvE options rather than replacing existing content.

That makes the zombie update somewhat divisive.

Zombie Mode: 8/10

PvP Got a Major Rebalance

For me, the most important part of Season 7 isn’t actually the zombies.

It’s the PvP changes.

Morefun increased effective weapon ranges, increased headshot effectiveness and introduced mode-based ammunition and gear restrictions.

The developers also removed T5/T6 armor penetration RNG, making high-level armor interactions more predictable.

This is a significant change for ABI.

Previously, some firefights could feel extremely unforgiving. A player could disappear almost instantly after being hit, leaving very little opportunity to react.

The longer and more predictable combat experience gives players more room to reposition, return fire and make decisions during a fight.

At the same time, increased headshot effectiveness means accurate players are still rewarded.

That is an important balance:

More survivability does not necessarily mean less skill.

Gear Restrictions

Season 7 also introduced clearer gear restrictions:

Normal

  • T4 and below

Lockdown

  • T5 and below

This should help prevent every raid from becoming a race toward the most expensive possible equipment.

PvP Combat: 8/10

Two New Weapons

Season 7 introduces two new assault rifles:

A545

The A545 adds another high-end assault rifle option to the weapon pool.

Its combination of firepower and rate of fire makes it particularly interesting for players looking for a strong automatic rifle without simply defaulting to the same weapons every raid.

AK-15SC

The AK-15SC brings another 7.62×39 option into the game and is particularly interesting for close-to-mid-range combat.

Together, the two weapons add variety to the meta without completely destroying the usefulness of existing weapons.

Season 7 also introduces four seasonal weapon attachments, giving additional weapons more viable configurations.

New Weapons: 8/10

Core Masteries Add More Depth

Another important addition is the Core Mastery system.

Season 7 introduces additional mastery choices, including Last Stand, which provides combat benefits when a player’s health reaches certain thresholds.

This gives players more opportunities to create builds around different playstyles.

Instead of every operator simply following the same progression path, players can experiment with different combinations depending on whether they prefer aggressive close-range fighting, defensive play or more specialized builds.

The ability to save custom point-allocation presets is also a welcome quality-of-life improvement.

Progression & Masteries: 8/10

Post-Combat Information Is Better

One of the less flashy improvements may actually be one of the most useful.

Season 7 adds more information after combat, including:

  • New dog-tag inspection animations
  • Detailed damage dealt and received during the final 30 seconds
  • The ability to share raid highlights and achievements

The detailed damage information is particularly useful.

Instead of simply asking:

“How the hell did I die?”

you can actually look at what happened.

For an extraction shooter where every death can cost significant equipment and money, better combat feedback is extremely valuable.

Post-Combat Experience: 8.5/10

Season 7 Player Numbers

One of the best ways to judge a new season is to look beyond opinions and examine player activity.

SteamCharts currently records a 45,937 concurrent-player peak over the latest 30-day period, with the game’s all-time Steam peak sitting at 65,944 players. The latest 30-day average is approximately 24,118 concurrent players.

Season 7 therefore hasn’t broken ABI’s historical Steam record, but it has produced a substantial launch spike.

The broader 2026 trend is also interesting.

After falling to around 16,905 average concurrent players in June, ABI recovered strongly during July and August before Season 7 arrived.

2026 Steam Player Trend

The graph below shows the average concurrent Steam player count through 2026. Season 7 launched on September 16, meaning September is a mixed pre-Season-7/Season-7 month.

The most important part of the graph is the recovery after June.

ABI’s average Steam population increased from approximately 16,905 players in June to 23,790 in July, a gain of more than 40%. August remained around 24,196, before Season 7 pushed the 30-day peak to nearly 46,000.

This tells us something important:

Season 7 did not revive a completely dead game.

ABI was already recovering before UTOPIA launched.

What Season 7 has done is build on that recovery and generate another substantial spike in activity.

Season 7 vs ABI’s All-Time Peak

The numbers also put the current season into perspective.

ABI’s Steam all-time peak is approximately 65,944 concurrent players, recorded in September 2025.

Season 7’s recent peak of approximately 45,937 is around 70% of that historical record.

That means UTOPIA has been successful at attracting players, but it hasn’t yet produced ABI’s biggest Steam moment.

That’s not necessarily a failure.

For a game more than a year after its original Steam launch, maintaining a 20K+ average population and producing peaks approaching 46K is still a healthy position.

Steam Reviews and Community Reaction

The community reaction to Season 7 is mixed.

Steam currently places Arena Breakout: Infinite in the Mostly Positive category, with roughly 73–74% positive overall sentiment depending on the tracking period.

Looking at the community reaction to the Season 7 announcement, the split is obvious.

Some players called UTOPIA one of the best updates the game has received, while others strongly disliked the new direction.

That split makes sense.

If you want ABI to become a larger PvPvE experience with more unusual gameplay systems, Season 7 is excellent.

If you want ABI to remain a highly focused tactical extraction shooter, some of the new systems may feel like unnecessary complexity.

The Biggest Problem With Season 7

For me, the biggest problem isn’t the zombies.

It’s complexity.

ABI is becoming a much larger game.

We now have:

  • Traditional extraction raids
  • Infected Zone
  • Zombie Endless
  • Zombie Research
  • Core Masteries
  • New merchants
  • Supplies Drops
  • Seasonal progression
  • More attachments
  • Gear restrictions
  • Additional events
  • More progression systems

More content is normally a good thing.

But eventually there is a point where adding another system doesn’t necessarily make the game better.

Morefun needs to make sure the different systems complement the core extraction experience rather than competing with it.

What Season 7 Gets Right

+ More variety

There is significantly more to do than simply running traditional PvP raids.

+ Better PvP balance

The changes to TTK, effective range, headshots and armor penetration make firefights feel more predictable.

+ Better combat feedback

The detailed damage information after combat is genuinely useful.

+ More meaningful progression

Core Masteries and Zombie Research provide additional long-term progression.

+ New weapons

The A545 and AK-15SC add variety without completely destroying the existing weapon ecosystem.

+ Strong player activity

The Season 7 period has produced a peak of nearly 46,000 Steam players.

Where Season 7 Falls Short

– The direction isn’t for everyone

ABI is moving further into PvE and hybrid gameplay.

– Zombie content needs continued polish

The concept is strong, but new systems inevitably bring balancing and gameplay issues.

– ABI is becoming more complicated

More systems can create more depth—but they can also create more confusion.

– It still needs to protect the core extraction experience

The traditional raid remains the reason many players came to ABI in the first place.

Morefun needs to make sure the new content strengthens that foundation rather than replacing

Final Verdict

4/5

Season 7 UTOPIA is a bold update.

It doesn’t simply add another weapon and call it a season. Morefun has changed several fundamental parts of Arena Breakout: Infinite, from combat balance to progression and PvE gameplay.

The zombie content will probably remain the most controversial part of the season.

Some players will love it.

Others will want ABI to remain a more traditional extraction shooter.

But that’s also what makes Season 7 interesting.

The player data shows that ABI is still capable of attracting a substantial audience. The latest 30-day Steam peak is almost 46,000 players, while the game’s historical Steam peak remains around 66,000.

For me, however, the biggest success of Season 7 isn’t the zombies.

It’s the attempt to improve the core combat experience while giving players more reasons to experiment with different builds and playstyles.

If Morefun continues polishing the PvE systems, keeps improving PvP balance and listens to players who want more traditional extraction content, UTOPIA could end up being remembered as one of the most important seasons in ABI’s history.

Season 7 isn’t perfect.

But it is ambitious, different and—most importantly—it gives Arena Breakout: Infinite a reason to feel fresh again.

The new PvE content adds variety, while the improved combat and progression make raids feel more rewarding. Not everything is perfect, and some players may feel that ABI is moving too far away from its traditional extraction-shooter roots. However, with strong player numbers, plenty of new content and better combat balance, Season 7 is a solid step forward.
